The Fabrique Mobile - Rescuing your defective objects and appliances
Sonia Roy
In the era of overconsumption and delivery services, the Fabrique Mobile, a collective enterprise whose social mission is to "participate in the emergence of a culture of innovation and cooperation through technological creation", has found an original way to contribute to the ecology and the environment, all while organizing a fun activity for local citizens. On November 29, the local organization announced the return of its Repair-Café, an event that combines discussion, knowledge sharing and manual repairs in a relaxed atmosphere.
With the goal of reducing waste, rescuing seemingly obsolete objects, and raising awareness among Gatineau residents about overconsumption and sustainability, the Repair Café is an opportunity for everyone to learn about repairing items that are part of our daily lives: "During these meetings between volunteers and citizens, toasters, coats, game consoles, bicycles, and many other objects can be repaired over coffee!” explains the Fabrique Mobile team. The first Repair Café was held at 135 Eddy Street on December 4, 2022 and was organized in collaboration with the Ville de Gatineau and the other businesses at 135 Eddy Street (Rack à Bécik, Bibli'Outils, Jadis Jadis and Horti-Cité). These events are free and open to all.
Would you like to get involved as a volunteer? It's possible! The Fabrique Mobile is inviting "expert tinkerers, Sunday seamstresses and part-time mechanics" to join these events and share their knowledge.
