Repairs to the storm and sanitary sewer network on Labrosse have been delayed
Sophie Demers
Gatineau officials reviewed the timeline of the construction on a section boulevard Labrosse due to deadlines for material delivery as well as the ban on carrying out work between May 1 and July 15. Due to the deteriorating conditions of the drains under the roads, they must be replaced to ensure road safety. The original deadline was July 1. The work will be carried out in the summer and the final paving will take place no later than fall 2022.
The work on boulevard Labrosse means a closure of the road between des Affaires Boulevard and de Chambord Road in order to limit the risk of the roadway caving in and to ensure the safety of drivers. The detours use roads montée Paiement, chemin Saint-Thomas, boulevard Lorrain, and chemin de Chambord.
Currently, a call for tenders for professional work supervision services as well as for the supply of a reinforced concrete rectangular culvert are being published. Next steps are releasing a call for tenders for the work.
The previous work on this project includes various analysis and reports by experts on the construct site, temporary work to ensure the maintenance of the water supply for the residents, and inspection of premises to avoid abstraction of water flow. The City has also done temporary stabilizing work done to secure the aqueduct and has submitted the application for authorization of the work by the Department of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
