QUEBEC - In an effort to combine cultural engagement with mental health support, Quebec's Ministry of Culture and Communications announced the third edition of its project grant initiative to improve the mental well-being of youth aged 12 to 18. The program is a component of the province's Interministerial Mental Health Action Plan 2022-2026, known as "Uniting for Collective Well-being."
The initiative, backed by $1 million in funding from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, will finance cultural projects that have a measurable positive impact on youth mental health. It's open to a diverse range of organizations, including professional cultural groups, public libraries, and community organizations, with an emphasis on including Indigenous groups.
The goal is to proliferate cultural activities that promote mental health across Quebec, thereby increasing the number of youth participating in arts and culture and ultimately improving their mental well-being. Eligible projects will encourage active participation and engagement among youth, facilitating direct interaction with cultural professionals.
The funding covers up to 75% of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $30,000; the organizations must contribute at least 10% of the total project budget. Projects will be evaluated based on their alignment with the initiative’s objectives, their potential for cultural and social impact, and overall quality. The initiatives must be complete by December 31, 2025.
The dealine to apply is June 17. Applicants must provide detailed proposals, including clear objectives, anticipated outcomes, comprehensive budgets, and organizational qualifications.
