La p'tite St-Jean: a free musical event coming to Gatineau

The free event will take place on June 24 at 8 pm on Laval street in Old Hull in Gatineau. La p'tite St-Jean will bring together music lovers in the region with two Quebec bands taking the stage. 

The first group, Quebec Redneck Bluegrass Project, engages listeners with their blend of bluegrass, folk, punk and traditional music that features a mandolin, violin, guitar, bass and choirs. The musicians, from Saguenay-Jeannois, have an undeniable stage presence and their sense of celebration will surely make the event one to remember. 

The second band, FUUDGE is a psychedelic group led by David Bujold, who is joined by Olivier Laroche on drums, Pierre Alexandre on bass, and Vincent Laboissonnière on keyboard and Mellotron. FUUDGE has released four albums since their debut in 2016. The first two EP’s won “Rock EP of the Year'' at the Gala alternatif de la musique indépendant du Québec (GAMIQ). Later, in 2019, GAMIQ awarded their album “Les Matricides” rock album of the year. 

The musical event will be animated by Sébastien Gandy, co-owner of the brewery À la Drifting and Michelle Lapierre-Dallaire will deliver the patriotic speech this year. 

La p'tite St-Jean was organized in collaboration with the City of Gatineau, la Société Nationale des Québécois et Québec and Patrimoine Canadien. The event was created by business owners in the Laval, Aubry and Kent sector in Hull.
