Gatineau police investigate weekend homicide in Aylmer

At approximately 2:00 am on Saturday, May 28, Gatineau Police (SPVG) were called concerning a young man with serious upper body injuries due to stabbing. The young man was outside Billiard Flixx bar, located at 51 Court Street in Aylmer, when police arrived.
Despite the efforts of emergency medical services and police, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The 22-year-old victim was a local hockey player. His family has been notified of his death but they wish to keep his identity anonymous for the time being and have asked for privacy.
The investigation is ongoing. Several witnesses have been interviewed by investigators and the next step will be to determine the cause and circumstances of the death. The Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine in Montreal will be performing the autopsy.
The SPVG states that no further information will be given in order to avoid interference with the investigation. They encourage anyone with information about the events to contact the SPVG through their information line 819 243-4636, ext. 1.
A perimeter has been set up around 51 Court Street to protect the scene and allow for a full analysis, which will be carried out by the Forensic Identification Service of the Sûreté du Québec.
Symmes Street between Bancroft and Eardley, Court Street between Principale and Eardley, and Eardley between Thomas and Symmes will be closed off indefinitely.
