Gatineau Police arrest two individuals suspected of armed robbery
By Greg Newing
The Gatineau Police (SPVG) arrested two people suspected of armed robbery on June 27. The arrests were made during a search mission following a series of robberies which took place between April 19 and May 24.
The robberies occurred at four businesses in the Gatineau sector, all of which were licensed establishments with video lottery machines. According to police records, the suspect allegedly used what appeared to be a handgun during the robberies, though no one was seriously injured during the incidents.
In the early morning of June 27, SPVG officers accompanied by an intervention team and investigators, arrested the individuals at two separate residences – one in Gatineau and the other in Val-des-Monts. They said that information provided by residents following calls to the public on May 1 and May 25 was crucial for making the arrests.
The SPVG said that the investigation into the series of robberies is still ongoing. Anyone with information relevant to the robberies should contact the SPVG at 819 243-4636, extension 5.
