Councillor: Tiffany-Lee Norris Parent
Touraine District (11)
A few words about her mandate so far:
"In 2022, I was very pleased with the developments in the Gappe Boulevard issue. The boulevard was in a catastrophic state. After numerous meetings with the municipal administration, I was very relieved that a resurfacing was carried out last summer," explained Touraine councillor Tiffany-Lee Norris Parent. "A complete overhaul of the boulevard de la Gappe is planned for 2023 or 2024. My task will be to ensure that the timetable is respected and that sufficient funding is allocated to this project," she added.
"Since I took office, I have also attached great importance to issues related to living together in Gatineau,” the councillor stated to the Bulletin. “Over the past year, I have been very satisfied with the progress made by the Commission du vivre-ensemble, formerly a round table. I have the honour of chairing the commission. By becoming a commission, it officially gains the power to make formal recommendations to city council. This gives the commission greater power to intervene, with a view to fostering a healthy, welcoming and inclusive living environment in Gatineau," she noted. The Commission du vivre-ensemble's 2023-2024 work plan was recently approved by Gatineau's municipal council. Councillor Norris Parent is also co-president of the Gatineau Youth Commission.
As for her district of Touraine, the councillor says she plans to make a tradition of the two meetings organized in the fall of 2022 for the Baron and Riviera neighbourhoods. These meetings allowed her to transmit certain recommendations to the City administration regarding the realities of these distinct districts.
A few words on the important issues in 2023:
"Recently, municipal funding was granted for the modernization of the Riviera Library. An amount was allocated by the administration and I added to it from my discretionary budget," explains Tiffany-Lee Norris Parent. With a request to the provincial government for additional funding, $140,000 could be added to that amount. "With this funding, we could give ourselves the means to rejuvenate our Riviera library and make more people want to visit it!" stated the municipal councillor, who mentioned that the project should begin in 2023. The district's parks are also at the heart of the councillor's interests: "Some teenagers in the district have contacted me to say that they would like to have new graffiti walls in the district. [...] I have chosen parks in Riviera for new graffiti walls - which will be paid for with my discretionary budget. The new walls will be installed in the summer of 2023, in Riviera and George-Étienne-Cartier parks.” she announced.
In addition to recommending the activities of the Association des résidents de Touraine and of Communautés Gatineau Ouest, the Touraine district councillor mentioned her intention to continue working on the coloured water issue in her district, which was recently brought to the council table by citizens on January 17.
