City Councillor Louise Boudrias passes away at the age of 62

It is with sadness that the family of Louise Boudrias, councillor of the Parc-de-la-Montagne-Saint-Raymond district, announced her death Monday morning via social networks. It is her daughter, Caroline Marinier, who shared the sad news of the death of her mother who died the day before, Sunday, August 14, surrounded by her family and friends. Louise Boudrias was fighting cancer and had retired from political life last January, shortly after her re-election for a third term as city councilor for her district in November 2021. She is survived by her family, friends, loved ones and an entire community that continues to salute her work and her great contribution to the city and the citizens of Gatineau. Louise Boudrias, a graduate in business administration from the Université du Québec, was a proud representative of the Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec (RFAQ) and leaves behind her many accomplishments, notably as president of her firm, Louise Boudrias et Consultants Inc., president of the board of directors of Tourisme Outaouais, president of the Compagnie de chemin de fer de l'Outaouais and teacher at La Cité collégiale. 

Many of Louise Boudrias' colleagues on the City Council have praised the work of this dedicated Councillor. Mayor France Bélisle mentioned through her social networks "In addition to being a mother close to her family, a lovely grandmother to her grandchildren, she was a dedicated and fighting city councillor. This is of course an extremely difficult time today for all those who love her. I must say goodbye to this woman of heart, conviction, and most of all to such a precious friend. While we mourn her loss, we know that she is now at peace and without pain". Many names, media and political personalities have publicly transmitted their condolences to the family, such as Steven MacKinnon (MNA for Gatineau and Chief Government Whip), Mathieu Lévesque (MNA for Chapleau), the real estate firm Brigil, Radio-Canada, Le Droit, as well as many associations of Gatineau residents. The family of Louise Boudrias indicated via Facebook "We know that our Loulou was a public figure and we will issue an official statement and answer questions in the coming days but in the meantime, we ask everyone to let us grieve as a family.".

The Bulletin team joins the Gatineau community in sending its most sincere condolences to the family of Louise Boudrias and underlines the loss of a faithful councillor who left, without a doubt, her mark on the history of our city.
