The Canevas Space collaborated with entertainment group QuataQuata to host a multicultural alley party. On the program: good food, good music and good people.

On June 13, Canevas hosted their free multicultural alley party from 11 am to 4 pm. Open to all and hosted outside the Canevas Space, the one-day festival, where “music and gastronomy meet,” was filled with eclectic live performances from local artists paired with authentic dishes from the four corners of the globe.
The day opened with a set from XANNIE, a local Ivorian DJ who was tasked with warming the crowd up for the day. She was closely followed by rapper and DJ SEIIIZI, who brought the Jamaican sound to the streets of Gatineau. Her set faded into the echoes of Chady Tam-Tam’s drums, whose bewitching rhythms make you want to get up on your feet. Starting at 1 pm, KIMYAMUSIK hit the stage bringing his take on Congolese-inspired hip hop with notes of slam poetry. Gatineau’s rising star Alex Brazeau was next to take the microphone, slowing things down with enlivening melodies. QuataQuata’s Lisa Yacé’s powerful vocals took over from 2:40 pm to 3 pm, before letting Eliot Martin close off the day.
On the culinary side, event goers enjoyed meals that transcended all borders. Mexican, Indian, Japanese, African, French, Senegalese and Quebecois food was available at various kiosks during the event.
