$21 million in funding available for Quebec’s active transport infrastructure: Véloce III Program invites applications

Geneviève Guilbault, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, has announced an open call for eligible organizations to apply for financial assistance through the Véloce III program. This initiative is aimed at fostering the growth and consolidation of the Green Route network and the regional cycling networks connected to it.

Organizations have until December 15 to submit their proposals under one of the three components of the support program. Véloce III will fund projects that ensure the development and completion of the Green Route and its regional cycling networks, improve the quality of infrastructure for active, safe, and efficient mobility, and maintain the Green Route and its branches, including the surface, signage, and other amenities.

The Véloce III funded projects align with the Road Safety Action Plan 2023-2028, enhancing the provision of safe cycling infrastructure and protecting vulnerable road users. Revealed last August by Minister Guilbault, the action plan inspired by Vision Zero outlines 27 measures to reduce the number and severity of road accidents.

Geneviève Guilbault commented, "I am committed to further supporting municipalities in financing infrastructure conducive to safe active transport, as outlined in our 2023-2028 Road Safety Action Plan. We are now making available $21 million to offer Quebecers safer and more enjoyable bike paths across all our regions. This continues our commitment to reducing GHG emissions by making sustainable mobility more accessible to everyone. Moreover, we are proud that Quebec continues to distinguish itself in North America with our 5,300 km Green Route!"
